On July 7, 1865 five were convicted and executed of as part the conspiracy to assassinate President Lincoln on April 14, 1865. These were Mary Surratt, Lewis Powell, David Herold, and George Atzerodt.
These pictures of the crew and the pieces of history surrounding them are incredible and have to be seen to appreciate the vulnerable human element of the villainous conspiracy to kill the 16th U.S. President.
